There are a lot of Con goers, Vendors, and other VIP’s that are in some serious financial straights due to the Rivera hotel charging them for their rooms which were supposed to be comped, in what is a very unprofessional & probably illegal move. Below are charity auctions, and other ways to donate to help these people in their time of need. Any excess will be going to charities whose money was also not received.

HISTORY

Almost 1 year ago today on January 1st, Ponyslivenow was started and posted in the nightly roundup. The day after Ponyslivenow had their first video game stream with me (Edock).

Over the next month we had several small victories, such as getting retweeted by Andrea Libman, getting a partnership with Filly Synchtube and AskthePonies, and interviewing Bree Faith (and my interview skills were horribad). At the time these were huge celebrations with everyone part of Ponyslivenow. There was plenty of sqeeing and giggles.

However, I felt that we needed to be bigger…we needed to do more for the community. The team was on board with this idea. So we brainstormed…little did we know what we would all do.

As we were growing, we often got told by bigger names that we are a video game stream…and that there are a thousand brony video game streams just like us.  We refused to be the same. We refused to be the norm.

Towards the end of our first month we became more bold. Because of this we met our now very good friend 2007excalibur2007.

February was a pretty quiet month for us because we were planning something huge. HUGE.

The first ever brony 24 hour video game marathon for charity.

Elements of Charity 1

During this event we raised $2620 for Humble Brony Bundle. Being quite possibly the LARGEST brony fundraiser thus far.

We met tons of people through this event, such as the folks over at Everfree Network, artists, and fanfic writers. Also those in attendance might remember when trolls got our channel banned from twitch tv because of ponies.

This event had a snowball effect and shortly after, charity events were poping up all over the place. This event wasn’t the only reason for this…but it was a good part of it.

April marked the year of the Daneit Joey. Long time viewers, you know what it is.

Also quite possibly our biggest event in PLN history.

Elements of Charity: Art for Africa

We teamed up with Everfree Network, The Brony Show, The Traveling Pony Museum, and various people from the community. We interviewed a lot of people in the brony community  (Take a look at the post, there are so many people!!!) while playing video games on our channel! With the help of everyone, we raised $5053! Yea, I typed that correctly. All this money went towards Inked! Art For Africa. Check out the followup post to see all the results.

After this massive event we had smaller ones such as Johnny streaming scary games for 12 hours. We also have a TF2 party with The New Lunar Republic.

Elements of Charity II

As you can see, there were 4 other charity events going on during the same day. Crazy how that worked out. I guess this was during the big brony charity boom. However we were able to raise about $600 dollars for Green Village and Tanzanian orphanage which led to it being fully funded! This would be out last huge charity event.

Around this time some of us started up our own projects such as the Ponyville Survival Game Minecraft map. Through this we met tons of friends.

Did I ever mention through all these events and such, nearly EVERY DAY someone was streaming a video game on our channel.

Things started to slow down for PLN and our most recent events were the 8-bit Pony tournment and our last charity event where we teamed up with The Traveling Pony Museum and hosted a Hurricane Sandy Relief event.

FAREWELL

Wow, its been such a  fun (and sometimes crazy) ride. It’s hard to believe that we helped raise $10,000 dollars for charity. Bronies are awesome!

So I bet you are asking why we are closing. The main reason is that everyone started getting caught up in life and wanted to do their own things. For me (Edock) personally,  I wanted to do something that I always wanted to do, which was make a game. I would not of left if everyone else on the team were committed to the steam, but I understand that life is more important than PLN. I left with the stream in Revere91′s hooves, but, everyone else was unable to help with the stream still.

It was a hard decision, but we decided it was time.

All of us are still close friends and even plan on going to Bronycon still! I guess, I just wish the stream could of gone on forever, but that is unrealistic.

A lot of people  never known about PLN and our involvement within the community. We often got overshadowed by other brony events/groups. We could of become one of the biggest groups that everyone in the community knows about. But you know what…

I’m glad we were never extremely popular. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I think the rest of the streamers would agree on this, but the friendships I have personally gained through this is remarkable. To the streamers, I freakkin love you guys. You are the best friends I have ever had. Even all the viewers, I loved getting on stream and just chatting with you guys. It was so awesome. Even all of the many Skype chats I’m in. You guys all mean the world to me. I know this is getting personal…but I could of became popular and only hung around other popular bronies. But I’m glad I didn’t. Because then I wouldn’t of met all of the wonderful people in this community…I would have been too pompous.

Anyway, to all the fans of PLN.

On behalf of all the streamers, we love you. Some of you we encouraged, some of you received love from us for the first time, and some of you were “converted” into bronies. We are glad we made a lasting impression and we want to thank you for giving us support and loving on us too.

Some of us will be streaming on our channel randomly however we will have nothing official.

I guess that’s it. What a year it has been. Maybe someday we can all meet up somewhere and have a party. Yea….Let us do that.

Many of you may know that we live on Long Island and, with the destruction of our south shore, would like to bring needed supplies to local towns.

Some of the supplies in demand are pet food, baby supplies and non-perishable foods. Inky Notebook has a 15% store discount at Petsmart as an employee and will be able to purchase and transport the pet food and other in demand supplies.

$10 will buy ONE 17 lb bag of dry dog food.
$10 will buy ONE 12 lb bag of dry cat food.

We are also raising money to buy baby supplies such as diapers, wipes, powder, blankets, hats and canned food.

$10 will buy a package of diapers
$10 will buy a children’s hat and glove combo pack.

$15 will buy a package of diapers, baby powder and a package of wipes.
$15 will buy a large family sized blanket.

$1 will buy a box of dry pasta.
.50 cents will buy one can of food.

Many pets, children and adults have become homeless due to Hurricane Sandy and now face these cold winter months with very little. Only a few shelters have become available and many are in desperate need of supplies for the people and pets they are housing. Any little bit of help will go a long way. So the game begins with the story that we all heard at the beginning of the first episode, where Princess Luna was jelly of Princess Celestia’s sunlight being admired by the ponies while her night was shunned and lol’d at.

So luna goes ballistic, turns into nightmare moon, elements, blah, 1000 year adminban, she finally returns, etc.

AND TWILIGHT SPARKLE AND HER FRIENDS HAVE TO SAAAAAAAAVE THE WOOOOORRRRRLD. ON A BALOOON.

And then we are brought to the loading screen. It loops an instrumental of the Smile song, yet it only loops a phrase and chorus. Not saying that that’s bad, but maybe add more to the song before looping it.

Oh boy, look at these ponies. Nope, nothing wrong with Pinkie Pie’s scaling here. Or Rainbow’s…

Oh, and then when it’s finished loading:

Moving on.

Alright, so you’re greeted with Spike mentioning how everypony is gone as Twilight floats on her balloon. Chose not to save anyone, Twi? You jerk, there’s plenty of room on your balloon. Anways, Twilight mentions how they have to restore the town and gather the elements of harmony. Then spike talks about making food.

Spike, your IQ seems to have risen.

OH NO LOOK HOW DARK IT IS

Then the game decides to greet me by asking me to do…

tasks.

uhhh. These seem like chores to me. What. The way it is presented kinda doesn’t seem appealing. But there are only three on the list so maybe I’m just going a bit off focus?

Okay, so I buy the windmill like it asks.

Oh no, our friends are in danger! QUICKLY, LET’S BUILD THIS RANDOM WINDMILL!

Oh… Oh no. NO. NOOOOOOOOOOOO.

I’ve seen enough isometric squares like that to know what that means. The only thing I knew about the game when I downloaded it is that it existed and that it was released today.

But now as of this, I can tell you that seeing those farmville like squares…

Awwwwh no.

So I guess this wraps up introductions.

So the mechanics are building stuff, reaping rewards, then playing some fun minigames. Then repeat

They were… boring to say the least. There is one minigame where you have to bounce a ball by yourself, and then another where you fly as Twilight Sparkle (fly, yeah) and collect bits while dodging SO EASY TO DODGE shadowbolts. And then Nightmare Moon actually notices that it’s DAYTIME in your area.

And even that, how does this shadow even qualify as the darkness of the night? Batman frowns upon you.

And you illuminate the dark areas with… bits. BITS. Then NM introduces a new concept of Harmony Stones. then kthxbai’s.

Oh, did Spike just say Bon Bon?

So we build a house for her, and then she comes in via… balloon. yeah okay why does it only occupy one or something.

Anyways. I guess the majority of introductions is complete. I don’t think I’m going to write as I play – the game is so bleh that it is making it difficult.

First impressions:

It is visually appealing, with colorful graphics, and music from the show. The basic expectations of pony. It is also great for the fact that it uses the official VAs for voice acting, not to mention the fact of how there is voice acting in the game.

But there’s something that just makes me want to put the game down after only a few minutes. I try to play it, but there is a feeling that just dilutes the experience.

The game feel. The game tries to introduce all the aspects to you cohesively, but the way they are introduced is kinda… lame. Even though it has the pony material, it still feels like a drawn-out tutorial. I’ll admit though, it does ease in once you start actually playing the game. Yet the concept is repetitive. As I stated before, you build stuff, reap rewards, then play some fun minigames. For some reason, minigame duration is shorter than that of labor duration. Hm.

It’s too simple. The game will continue the pattern, then reward you with something new, then pattern again. Though the concept isn’t tiring. It somehow keeps you in the game… for as long as you are bored.

If you’ve played farmville and is into it, then chances are you’ll probably have a good time with this game. If not, then you may find it  boring.

We hope to regain momentum and consistency with our streaming; we know how you guys expect us on the chatrooms waiting for us to stream, and then it turns out there is no stream.

We apologize deeply for our failures in consistency. This led to some of you viewers to tune us out.

But, mark my post, starting this week we will get back on track. New events, new times, but most of all,

the fact that we’re streaming again.

Promise that we’ll all have a good time. You tune in, and we’ll be streaming. We’re not dead yet. Promise we won’t be.
